My experience painting dogs has been positive and rewarding. The relationship between dogs (all pets) and their people is not just special, but a gift that elevates the human experience. I have been privileged to witness this special bond through my work as a portrait artist. One endearing example was my commission to paint West Virginia’s Governor Jim Justice’s hunting dog, Lilly, an English Pointer. I was moved by the special bond between the Governor and his treasured hunting dog. He fired shots where she pointed her last grouse. She was buried lovingly wrapped in his old hunting clothes. The story didn’t fail to bring tears to my eyes.
“Teresa is an incredible talent as she captured the perfect image of one of the greatest grouse dogs of all times, my dear companion Lilly."
It was a pleasure to paint Hunter, a handsome golden retriever with a beautiful, full coat for a special family. Later, they asked if I could paint a portrait of their daughter. the process of painting skin is very different from fur. It takes longer but they were patient. I really enjoyed the process and was pleased with the result. Their daughter is a natural model and that made it easier.
"Teresa's work is stunning, high quality and creative. Her care, expertise and attention to detail set her apart. Beautiful art from a truly beautiful person, inside and out." ~ Brit R.
